Two sides with 100% records met at Ringley Road, with both sides looking to continue their good start to the season. Moston started the game the stronger but it was Standians who took the lead when the Standians forward, seemingly in an offside postion, was able to go through and lift the ball over the advancing keeper. This only seemed to inspire Moston into life and what followed was some excellent football which resulted in a one nil deficit being turned into a 3-1 lead by half time. Firstly Paul Vayro got in behind the Standians defence and hammering the ball towards, goal on the half volley,  which proved too hot to handle for the keeper, despite getting a hand to the ball. It was soon three , when Luke Worsley, after suffereing frustration in his first two games of the season , decided to spark into life. Firstly cutting inside from the left and hitting the ball hard into the roof of the net. Then, hitting an unstoppable drive from the edge of the box with his left foot.

Moston continued their dominance in the second half, although it was Standians who managed to get the next goal, their defender heading in at the back post from a free-kick. Again this set back only seemed to galvanise Moston again and they were soon out of site. Worsley completing his hat-trick after a superb first touch took out three Standians defenders and into the penalty box where he promptly lifted the ball over the advancing keeper for a fine third goal. The fifth followed soon after when a fine passing move between Terris, Vayro, Worsley and Henry was finished off by a fine low finish at the near post by Terris for an excellent team goal. Chris Ferns finished off the scoring at the back post after a fine run and cross by Vayro. So it was Moston that kept up their 100 hundred percent record and took their goal tally up to 24 in three games. Our football for most of the match was excellent and even received some pleasing praise from the referee. If we continue to play like this, we will surely be serious contenders for the league.
