It was first against second on Saturday and both side's unbeaten record was on the line. As it turns out it was Old Strets who lost their 100% record in spectacular fashion, although the 6-1 scoreline was probably a bit harsh on our opposition. For the first thirty minutes of the match, Strets were certainly the better side and played some excellent football. However, credit to Moston's back four who kept them down to only the odd half chance and long range efforts from distance. As the half went on though, Moston began to get more of a foothold in the game and took the lead from the penalty spot. The Strets defender hanging out a leg in the box, and Paul Vayro was only too happy to go over it. Mark Terris regained penalty taking duties and finished well into the bottom corner. Moston couldn't quite get too half time in the lead and Strets equalised, when probably for the first time, their forward got in behind our back four and cut it back for their centre forward to score.

Given our performance in the first half, we were reasonably happy to go in level at half time. The second half started better for Moston and we were able to get closer to our opposition and stop their flowing passing game. This allowed our attacking players more possession and more of a say in the game. We took the lead again, mid-way through the second half, when the Strets keeper made a mess of a clearance, kicking it straight to Mark Terris, who finished well. Our opposition heads seemed to go down after this and the game became more stretched which gave Vayro, in particular, more time and space to really influence the game. After getting in behind the defence, he unselfishly put the ball across goal for Mo Boakye who seemed to take an age to get his shot away. He eventually shot at the keeper but the rebound fell again to Vayro who finished. The game was safe soon after, when a fine through ball from Vayro put Terris in on goal and he finished well under the advancing keeper, for his hat-trick. Mo added a fifth, turning well in the box and finishing into the bottom corner. The scoring was completed near the end, with the goal of the match, Ryan Henry smashing a 25 yarder into the corner of the net.

A much improved second half performance and our opposition must have been a little shell shocked to lose by this score, after not playing badly. However, it is probably this fire power that sets us apart from the rest of the division and it is not the first time we have blitzed teams like this and killed games off in a 15-20 minute spell Our discipline was excellent again, after being singled out previously by the league for special attention. Special mention to the referee, who was the best referee I have had in my four seasons in the L and C and showed that when we are given a referee who has a good rapport with players, our lads our not quite the bad apples we have been accused of.  Back to top spot, our goals tally is up to 42 in 8 games, and we have the best defence in the league
