The 3rd XI without a win for 4 games took on table toppers AFC Oldham at Smedley last Saturday.

For the first 30 minutes Moston gave as good as they got, but after 30 minutes slack marking at a corner, Oldham took the lead with a header at the far post. Within two minutes we were 2-0 down as Barry Rogers misjudged a long ball allowing the Oldham attacker plenty of time to shoot and although Jordan saved the initial shot there were no defenders any where near to stop the follow up. Heads went down and we conceded a third when goalkeeper Jordan Chorlton trying to dribble his way out of the box lost out to the Oldham attacker. H.T. 0-3

Mike Melia's half time talk seemed to spark Moston into life and again for 30 minutes Moston matched our opponents with chances going begging at both ends. Then as in the 1st half we collapsed in the final 15 minutes, conceding a further 3 goals which could have been more but for a couple of fine saves by Jordan, making amends for his earlier error. F.T. 0-6

We must start to concentrate for a full 90 minutes not 30 minutes in each half, there is also a lack of communication on the pitch we need to start to talk to one another and finally put our chances away when they fall to us. Next up local rivals Newton Heath
