Moston Brook ( 3 - 0 ) Boundary Park 'B' PDF Print E-mail
Written by Phil Barton

Brook got back that winning feeling this Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 over Boundary Park B without really going through the gears. A couple of players found themselves playing in new positions as players went down with colds. Brook started well early on gaining the initiative and forcing Boundary into their own area with Jackson having an early shot well stopped by the Boundary keeper. The breakthrough came in the fifth minute, Willis won the ball on the edge of his own area and quickly laid off to Gaffney, his quick thinking found Jackson on the half way line who was quick to control and went on one of his trademark weaving runs, he found his way majestically round two Boundary defenders and hammered home into the top corner.  Brook were well in control and a series of well delivered corners from Burke left Boundary struggling to clear their lines, and  when the ball was delivered into the front post  for the third time Gaffney pounced  to hammer home the second.  Boundary countered but Egan, Willis and Gaffney snuffed out any advances and when they did get through the ever reliable Field was on song between the sticks.

The second half saw the introduction of Hammett and Taylor and it wasn't long before Hamett was called into action with some good defensive work along with Willis. Brook were now turning the screw but their bravado put them in danger of being caught on the counter. Another three corners on the trot saw Taylor, Hammett and Egan all go close, but it was another piece of individual magic by Jackson that put paid to any Boundary resistance. Willis controlled the ball at the back and fed Egan, he linked up with Jackson who worked his way past three players cruising into the area to hammer home his second and best goal of the game. In the final stages of the game Field had to earn his corn as Brook took their foot of the gas and he didn't disappoint with a string of fine stops.

Man of the match went to Jackson for a barnstorming performance and the Boundary manager voted Field his man of the match for his heroics between the sticks.
