The seconds travelled to Aldermere with the luxury of a full quota of 14 players. Moston found themselves having most of the play in the first half but couldn't turn their superiority tell with goals. Aldermere did create a couple of good situations themselves on the break and took the lead midway through the first half with a well worked goal. Their left winger getting in down the Moston right and putting in good cross for their forward to finish with a fine diving header. Moston continued to press for a equaliser but found the Aldermere goalkeeper in good form.

The pattern of play for the second half continued in the same vein as the first, with Moston continuing to press hard for a goal. We did finally get our equaliser in the first 15 minutes of the second half, Mo Boakye finishing well after getting in down the right. Moston were pegged back again soon after with the Aldermere right winger getting in down the Moston left and finishing well into the bottom corner. Aldermere's lead wasn't to last long as Mike McElvaney managed to get a shot off in a crowded area that went in off the post, this now puts him in double figures for the season. The game then turned on a couple of refereering decisions that went Moston's way. Firstly we were awarded a penalty when an Aldermere defender was penalised for handball, Mark Terris putting away the penalty with ease. Aldermere were then probably unlucky to have a goal chalked off for pushing. However, they were given the chance to equalise soon after, when Michael Budzik was penalised for pulling back the Aldermere winger in the area. The resulting penalty was a very poor one as the houses behind the pitch were in more danger than the net. Moston made them pay for this miss by adding a fourth near the end, Paul Vayro battling his way through the Aldermere defence, rounding the keeper and rolling the ball into the empty net.

Another victory for the seconds but they were made to work extremely hard for the three points. A decent performance on the whole and we did make our superiority tell in the end. A couple of well taken goals from Aldermere gave us a bit of a scare and with a bit more composure on the penalty and they could have got something out of the game. However, I do feel we deserved the three points although we did make harder work of it than we might have preferred.
