Moston Brook 3rd team travelled to Stoconians having already beaten last years points tally and also last years goal tally.

We travelled with a familiar looking squad and also welcomed back Keith Thomas and his son Lee. A calf injury to Midfielder Mike Crump in the Pre-Match warm up left us a little short in the centre of Midfield. After a hastily re-adjustment manager Mike Melia fielded a strong enough team on paper to win. The pre-match talk was about starting well and not conceding in the first few minutes. Obviously no-one was listening as straight from the kick off Moston were lucky not to concede and only a good save from Daniel Gleave prevented a goal. You would have thought Moston would have heeded the warning however after failing to clear a corner the Stocs Midfielder found himself on the edge of the box and struck a sweet shot into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Moston responded to this and dominated the rest of the first half wasting several chances to equalise. Mozza being the worst culprit. Such was Moston's dominance Dave ‘the showers are too hot' Kinder went on several forays into the oppositions half only to be rescued by the local Ring and Ride Service. The second half was not existent as far as Moston were concerned as Stoc's totally dominated. It was obvious the team were missing the inspirational Crump but the second half display was probably one of the worst displays of what up to now has been a productive season. Stoc's scored four more goals and in truth could have scored more. Moston have some tough games coming up and are going to have to start from the first minute and not give the ball away to cheaply. Many more performances like this and the good work that's has already been achieved this season will fall away to nothing. On the plus side stand in keeper Daniel Gleave put in an excellent performance under extreme pressure. Moston's next fixture is away to Newton.

Last weeks team: D Gleave, A Harrison, D Kinder, C Kennedy, K Thomas, D Walsh, M Budzik, J Barlow,

M Morrison, C Moss, F Adesanya. Subs. L Thomas
