Well the Brook squad were more than ready for this match today, after turning up to play last week and being sent home again due to water logged pitches. They were fired up right from the off. Reece Flynn scored a blinder within 5 minutes of kick off. Michael Brewster added his name to the score sheet 15 minute later after receiving a fantastic through ball by Darius. Stand Athletic didn't really get much of a touch during the whole of the first half as Brook dominated for the full 35 minutes. Kallum Partington slotted home Brook's 3rd after being awarded a penalty just before the half time whistle. Half time score 3 v 0.
The second half was pretty much the same as the first with Brook on fire and playing some fantastic football. Michael Brewster showed that he was on top note as he blasted home number 4 for Brook and followed through 5 minutes later with a superb rocket shot again delivered by Darius that left the keeper absolutely no chance what so ever. A bit of confusion appeared to take over the Brook defence after Stand were awarded a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. I'm not sure why but Brook stood still and just watched the ball go straight over Kyle's head and into the net. Bringing the score at this point to 5 v 1.
Andrew Bowker decided he wasn't leaving it there and took it upon himself to take the ball on a mad run down the left wing, taking on anyone that stepped in his way. He then crossed the ball into the box, which was intercepted by a Stand player. This player accidentally passed it back to Andrew who then leathered a right footer straight into the top right hand corner of the net. There were plenty of missed chances before Kyle Hark scored a fantastic header from a Brook corner taken by Darius. Michael Brewster netted his 4th of the day after receiving a powerful clearance shot from Ryan Kenny.
With only eight minutes remaining Darius who had been trying hard to score all day finally found the target when he sent a cannon ball blaster from just outside the area straight over the keeper and into the top left hand corner of the net.
Brook were displaying some fanstastic passing skills around the field throughout and it wasn't long before the Stand keepers worst nightmare, master Brewster cheesed him off once again by putting his 5th of the day passed him.
There was a bit of a scramble in the Stand Athletic box just before the full time whistle where lots of legs and feet were knocking the ball about all over the place, luckily Kallum Partington's last magic touch was able to find the target when it rolled past the keeper and into the bottom right corner of the net. Final score 11 v 1.
This was an absolute fine display of football today by Brook. They demonstrated their capabilities as a team and showed just how strong and powerful they can be when they switch it on. Let's hope that you are just as fired up and switched on for the final next week guys. A mention needs to be given to the Stand Athletic squad for their determination and never say die attitude, because despite the score line they never once gave up, were very fair and very friendly.
This was the most difficult game to date all season to select a MOTM because every player played superbly well so the whole team gets it. WELL DONE ALL. Deb and I are very proud of you xxx
