Another great start for Brook with players fired up and ready to take on anything that came their way. Within the first five minutes of kick off Captain Darius right footed a superb curler straight into the top right hand corner of the net after receiving a class pass from Michael Brewster who was playing the role of sweeper for tonight's game. Michael was having a fantastic game and intercepted virtually every ball that the opposition attempted to pass through to their striker throughout the first half. Brook were again displaying some fantastic passing and running skills and were oozing with confidence.
However we had a lot of missed chances by many players, which were accounted for in the 20th minute by one of the best headers I have seen for a long time by Jack Keightley. He'd scored this meaty header from a corner kick taken by Darius. Other team members commented later that on account of the power in Jacks bullet header, he nearly had the balls Mitre sign imprinted on his forehead. The first half ended 2 v 0.
Brook came out just as powerful and strong in the second half and were passing the ball about the field in a fashion that would make any manager proud. Jack Keightley received the ball just outside the area in the 40th minute and blasted a low hard shot right on target and beating the keeper by its speed to bring the score to 3 v 0. Not long after the tightness of Brooks defence suddenly became slack and the Rossendale striker got through, luckily for Brook big Michael Brewster was there to save it off the line with a powerful clearance shot.
Brook found their shape and form immediately and the speedy Darius got through the Rossy defence again and beat the keeper to slot home Brooks 4th. Kyle Barton had saved some long ball shots during this period and was communicating well with his team mates. Well done Kyle!
The king corner taker Darius delivered another superb ball into the box in the 50th minute and Jack Keightley was there again with his head to claim his hat trick of the night.
With only 5 minutes remaining Reece Flynn decided to add his name to the score card when a through ball was delivered by Niall who was also having a great game straight to him in front of goal. Reece shot and the keeper spilled it before he knocked it in off the rebound. 2 minutes later a bit of a scramble was taking place in the Rossy box after a Brook corner was taken, but Reece was there again to chip the ball over the keeper for his 2nd and Brooks 7th.
Final score 7 v 0.
This was another brilliant performance by all of you. You should be very proud of yourselves because we are. Well done all of you... But a very well done goes to Michael Brewster and Jack Keightley for getting MOTM for playing an outstanding game tonight.
