It's a good job that kick off for this game was at 12 0 clock today because if anybody would have seen the state of  Deb and myself first thing this morning they'd have thought that we were playing in the match ourselves. None of us had had any sleep last night and we both felt very sick with nerves. However we both knew deep down that, no matter what the score would end up being this afternoon we knew that our fantastic boys wouldn't let us down in giving it their all and trying their best in this game.

Before the match kicked off we got both teams to shake hands as we thought that this might help break the ice and limit the nerves between the two sides. However just before this our nerves and tension were pushed aside when we were made to crack up with laughter by Andrew Bowker. He showed just how committed he is to this club when he said in a worried tone ‘Sandra do we have to sing the National Anthem? because I don't know all the words?' Bless Him...

Right from the off it was clear to see that both teams were up for this challenge and were determined to succeed.

Reece Flynn put Brook ahead in the 7th minute when he beat the keeper with his fantastic blaster of a header from a Darius cross. From here on it was a nail biting time for the spectators as play was pretty much even between the two sides. Unsworth managed to beat the Brook defence just before the half time whistle but fortunately they were prevented from equalising by the speed and determination of left back Ryan Kenny's superb clearance off the line. Half time scores 1 v 0.

Unsworth appeared to be a little more heated in the second half and came out even stronger than before, but if they thought that this would shake or stir the Brook camp they had another thing coming. In the 40th minute Niall Rafferty was able to fulfill his extra role when Brook were awarded a penalty after a hand ball incident in the box. With not a care in the world the confident Niall placed the ball as if it was his daily routine, took a run up, and struck with power and precision to put Brook now 2 v 0 in front. This was a fantastic moment as it seemed to take some of the pressure off the tiring Brook camp and allowed for some changes to relieve and treat some injured players. Jack Keightley, Andrew Bowker and little Heffer who had all been having a great game had to come off for treatment, whilst the others battled on. However this moment of released tension didn't last for long as Unsworth showed they were definitely not giving up that easily and took advantage of our missing crew by making some changes themselves. Brook found out just how easy it was to be punished if they lapse from their duties for a split second, when Unsworth were given space to pass the ball about in midfield and managed to slip through the Brook defence and onto goal twice in the space of 5 minutes. The first time Kyle safe hands Barton saved a tremendous shot that was coming straight at him but unfortunately due to a scuffle in the box he couldn't quite make the second and they scored bringing the score to 2 v 1.

The pressure and the tension was back on and so were our semi injured players.

No matter how hard they tried Brook were not allowing Unsworth back through on goal again. Towards the end Brook missed a few of their own chances, a couple went wide, and a few were hoofed over the bar. Furthermore Michael Brewster had a fantastic rocket shot saved by the keeper in the last minute. The final whistle couldn't have come at a better time as I don't think my stomach could take much more. Debbie didn't look o healthy either. Final score 2 v 1.

This was an outstanding performance from Brook again, particularly when we had to cope with injuries that were picked up before the game. Every player deserves this achievement and deserves a massive round of applause. Well done all !!!!!

A very well done goes to Michael Brewster for getting the officials Man of the match award and a further well done to Kallum Partington and Craig Mckay for getting the Moston Brook MOTM.
