A much improved performance wasn’t enough as Brook dominated for long periods in a well fought battle against local rivals Northside.Brook started the day bottom of the pile and Thomas Jackson and Egan in a new roll led the forward line to try and put a halt to the dismal run.Brook dominated the early stages playing with a good memento and it wasn’t long before Jackson found himself in space, he found Thomas and he in turn linked up with Egan but good defending by the spirited Northside defence soon brought the Brook advance to a halt.Northside countered but Hammett and Potseluiko stood stern in the Brook defence to keep them at bay, minute’s later saw Field brought into action with a fine fingertip save pushing a venomous effort wide. The game twisted and turned with no team having a firm hold on things, Brook were now playing some great passing football but just couldn’t penetrate  a stern Northside defence. The goal came against the run of play as the dangerous Northside striker found himself in space, he turned and unleashed an excellent strike into the corner leaving Field no chance to take Brook in at the interval 1-0 down.Brook rung the changes Gaffney and Goulden were introduced,  Goulden forced the Northside keeper into action five minutes in as Thomas linked up with Jackson to put Goulden through but his effort was well stopped.A series of corners for Brook saw some well disciplined defending by Northside and when the ball dropped to Goulden his shot drifted just wide. A free kick on the half way line for Brook saw Thomas find Jackson he unleashed a thunderous drive on to see his effort come out of the post. At the other end Brook were defending well this time Hammett and Gaffney were standing tall against an onslaught of Northside attacks, Field was his usual composed self stamping his authority in the area catching well from a cannon ball of a cross. The killer blow came three minutes from time as Brook pressed to get back  in the game, A fine clearance from a Brook attack found the Northside forward in space his shot was blocked by Hammett but the back up attacker pounced to bang home Northsides second and the winner.A much improved performance this week, man of the match from Brooks management went to Hammett for another defensive master class, whilst Northside management opted for Jackson for another never say die captains performance.
