Moston Brook arrived at Webb Lane on a warm sunny Wednesday evening to take on Mellor who were third in the table. As we made our way to the dressing rooms we were informed there was no running water available for our water bottles. Adam Harrison was dispatched with the task of finding water and he duly obliged when he found a local guy watering his garden with a hose pipe and managed to persuade him to fill our bottles. The game started with Moston looking the sharper of the two teams, with both full backs, Smithy & Keith Thomas pushing forward at every opportunity. Then against the run of play & after some slack marking, Mellor took the lead, this seemed to spark Mellor into life and more pressure saw them increase their lead after a rare mistake from Danny Gleave with him pushing the ball into his own net. To our credit we upped our game, closed the opposition down more quickly and gradually got on top. After Mossa forced the defender to concede a corner we were rewarded when Chris Yarwood slotted home from close range after the resultant corner was completely missed by Chris Kennedy. 1-2 down at half time.Shortly into the second half Manny Obi replaced Walshy  whose hamstring had given up again and while running repairs were being administered to Chris Parker’s gashed head and the team down to 10 men, Mellor grabbed their third. Didn’t see it so don’t know what happened. Chris Moss hobbled off with about 25 minutes to play and was replaced by the Legend. For the final 20 minutes we applied all the pressure and when Andy Feeke broke through then rounded the keeper and with the open goal in front of him, pulled the trigger, but unlike ‘007’ missed the target. Despite this miss we still pressed forward and finally got a second when Lee Thomas scored a fine individual goal with about 2 minutes to go. An excellent team performance and very unlucky not to take something from the game. Team: D Gleave, P Smith, K Thomas, C Kennedy, C Parker, D Walsh, L Thomas (1), A Feeke, M Morrison, C Moss, C Yarwood (1).  Subs.  M Obi, D Kinder
