LEAGUE DINNER The 1st and 2nd teams have now secured their respective league titles and we can plan the celebrations.
First up is the Lancashire and Cheshire League Presentation Dinner. This takes place on Monday 19 May at Stockport County, 7.00 for 7.30. In addition to the Dinner there is usually a Guest Speaker and a Comedian. Trophies and medals are awarded to the managers/captains but not to the individual players. We will arrange our own night for this presentation.
Time is off the essence, which is why I writing to everyone directly. Due to the cost of the tickets we will only reserve places when the money has been paid. Given the date of the Dinner, two weeks today, your money will need to be paid this Saturday. There will be games for all teams this week to give you an opportunity to pay.
Tickets are £22 and we can arrange for a coach to travel from the Bluebell at 6.30, at a cost of £5. In addition to the two league championships it is also probable that we will pick up the Aggregate Trophy, for the best combined 1st and 2nd team results during the season. I hope that we will have a good turn out.
CLUB QUIZ NIGHT The 2nd Annual Quiz night will take place at Woodhouse Working Men's Club on Friday 23 May. This is a light-hearted quiz, won by Keith Thomas's team last year. I am looking for teams of 4, entry fee £5.
MINI SOCCER TOURNAMENT This year's tournament takes place on Saturday14 and Sunday 15 June at Crumpsall Park. This requires help from all sections of the club - pitch marking, car parking, checking registrations forms, litter clearing, roping off pitches, erecting goalposts. Although your season is over the clubs work goes on and everyone will feel the benefits of this tournament. Please let me know if you can help in any way.
TRIP TO THE RACES We are looking to run this trip Saturday 9 August to Haydock Park. Admission is £17 for Tattersalls Enclosure. We will organize a coach and breakfast. At the moment this date cannot be confirmed as we do not know when the league fixtures start. However please advise if you would be interested in this.
OTHER SUCCESS Elsewhere in the club our Under 14s have won their league - for the 5th consecutive year and Divisional Cup. Our Under 12s have won the Cup and have every chance of clinching the championship as well. The Under 11s have reached their Cup Final. The Under 10s look likely to win their league. The Under 13s lost in the last minute of their cup final. We currently have an Under 6s team in training and the Under 7 have nearly completed their first season.
Coupled with the success at senior level we've never had it so good.
