A mixture of injuries and shear bad luck as well as some fantastic saves saw Brook slump to another defeat today, as lady luck refused to show up and give Brook some a change in fortunes. An end to end game saw the Failsworth West keeper produce a fine finger tip save in the first five minutes pushing over a screamer from Jackson after Thomas had played him in.At the other end some strong defending by Hammett and Gaffney kept the West attackers at bay. Eight minutes in saw Field save smartly at the feet of the advancing Failsworth forward and a minute after that he did the same again. Egan pulled the strings in midfield and linked up well with Thomas and Jackson on the edge of the West area forcing another fine save from the opposition keeper as Jackson’s luck failed to change. Potseluiko replaced Egan in the final stages of the first half as he was injured as he advanced into the opposition half, and he was soon into the thick of things as brook fought for everything. As last week Brook were caught whilst pressing forward themselves, but credit were credit was due it was a fantastic strike that gave Failsworth the lead. The second half saw Field having to be replaced as he took a nasty blow to the head and Gaffney standing in was soon in action saving a shot with his feet right away. Jackson and Thomas both looked lively and Hammett and Willis were outstanding at the back Potseluiko was giving good service until he had to be replaced due to injury. Brook were now thin on the ground but still didn’t give up, and when Hammett had to be replaced with a dead leg you thought who next. The West second came soon afterwards with with another great strike but Brook still refused to give in, Potseluiko who had just returned to play fed in Jackson only to see his great strike smartly saved again by the West keeper and when the keeper pulled of another great save from a Thomas shot you new it wasn’t going to go our way. Willis and Egan contained any more attacks and Gaffney was at hand to clean up if anything got through. The game came to an end and both teams played a great part, Man of the match for the Brook management went to Hammett for a great defensive display whilst once again Jackson was deservedly given it by the Failsworth West manager.Well done boys you really dug in and give them again as in previous weeks there wasn’t a lot between the two teams even though the league positions don’t reflect this.
