A new beginning and a new season with the mini soccer games being at Brieley Avenue instead of Ten Acre Lane.
The first game of the season saw us come up against a strong Failsworth West B. We started the game slowly as it shown with us being down 2-0 down within 5 minutes through good speed and determination from the Failsworth strikers, It could have been a lot more but for some excellent goalkeeping from Mark Rigg. We started to find our feet and passed the ball well and started to create our own chances but good saves from the Failsworth goalkeeper kept the score at 2-0. As we pressed forward Failsworth hit us on the break and made it 3-0. Soon enough we got our goal our pressure deserved with a fine free kick by Corey Leech that flew into the top corner we continued to press but at half time it was still 3-1 in Failsworths’ favour.
The second half continued with Moston Brook making all of the running and creating chance after chance but good goalkeeping and better choices infront of goal kept the score at 3-1. Halfway through the second half Alec McBride produced some excellent skill then laid the ball off to Kyle Smith who stroked a superb left footed shot into the bottom corner of the net. At this point it seemed Moston Brook would get their equaliser but found no way through the Failsworth defence. Failsworth created chances of their own but excellent defending by Callan, Jacob and Mark stopped Failsworth increasing their lead. Moston continued to press but Failsworth caught us on the break and increased their lead to 4-2 right on full time.
A very good all round display and a good battling performance. Well done keep up the good work.
