Todays opposition was clayton, a team lying in mid table who have always given us a tough game. We started with the normal formation with all players starting in their usual positions. We kicked off and forced clayton into their own half, Ben threw the ball across which found a perfectly positioned Sam waiting at the back post who slotted the ball home to make it one nil with only one minute gone. Clayton came straight back at us and scored within a minute making the score one all after two minutes. Again we pushed forward and a throw in from Ben was challenged by Charlie who did enough to put pressure on the clayton defender who headed the ball into his own net.  On the attack again we took a three – one lead when  Sam in exactly the same position as the first goal did exactly the same thing and scored. After some hard work in training it was really good to see Zack coming off his line to make some good clearances and his kicking out is really coming on. After a goal mouth scramble Clayton managed to get a goal back just before half time making the score three – two. From the restart Ben hit a shot that nearly snapped the cross bar and bounced down onto the goal line with the help of a Russian linesman the lead could have been extended.

The second half was all Clayton but we stayed strong in defence and managed to keep our one goal advantage. Dylan took a slight knock four minutes into the half which gave Josh a chance to come on, although he was up front he did well to drop back and help out in defence. With only two minutes left we finally broke forward and Charlie managed to put the game out of Claytons reach by firing a shot home with his left foot. We held on today and battled for a result which made it really hard to choose a man of the match. For a good display in midfield it went to Charlie.
