Well it was another one of those days for Brook where nothing seemed to go right at all. With only eleven confirmed players out of a possible sixteen, we knew that it may be a hard struggle today.

We arrived at the ground hoping that the game may be called off due to the extremity of the fog that was getting thicker by the minute and the icy cold wind that was biting at the skin on our faces. However this wishful thinking didn’t get us anywhere as it was not to be. We had to kick off the match and play for twenty minutes with only ten men on the field, four of which were ill including our goalkeeper and the eleventh player who was running late had also got up from his sick bed to join us.

Westbury scored their first goal in the 10th minute followed by a second five minutes later. Kyle Hark managed to claw one back on the stroke of the half hour after receiving a fantastic pass from Darius on the right wing. Kyle jibbed it past a big defender before launching a superb right footer over the keepers head and into the back of the net.

With only a minute remaining of the first half Westbury got past the Brook defence once again and scored their 3rd. Half time score 3 v 1.

The sickness and ill health amongst the Brook squad began to take its toll in the second half as Westbury scored their 4th five minutes into the kick off.

A small element of Brook’s team spirit was momentarily lifted when Darius scored a blinder after a clearance ball from Craig McKay found him running up the right wing. Darius crossed it into the box but it was knocked straight back out by the Westbury defence. However, fortunately for Brook it was knocked only as far as, back to Darius. This time he wasted no time at all in going straight for the jugular by slamming it hard and fast straight into the top right hand corner of the net. 4 v 2.

The moral amongst the Brook camp didn’t last long as Westbury scored again taking them to 5. Brook appeared to give up hope as they slowed down to almost a snails pace and allow Westbury a free reign of the park. The referee didn’t help matters when he revealed his weakness and pure favoritism by being one sided in his booking of Kyle Hark after he retaliated to a down-right blatant kick in the leg by a very cheeky Westbury midfield player. Anyway by the end of the match Westbury bagged another 2, which took the final result to 7 v 2.

In summary Westbury are quit a descent set up and have some very good players. However based on Brook’s sickness within the squad and the lack of attendance to this game today we made it all too easy for them. They have no idea at all about what you are capable of on a good day. So watch this space Westbury…..

On a positive note however ‘Well Done’ guys anyway, it just about sums up the type of day we have had. We need to put this game behind us, pick ourselves up, get well and prepare ourselves for next week.

Finally well done to Craig McKay once again for getting today’s MOTM. He gave another outstanding performance in defence despite all of the goals.
