Saturday 2nd May 2009 Moston Brook 2 v AFC Clayton 1
The team for today's game was Handley, Aspinall, Bamford, Crone, Leech, O'Neill, Bowles, Smith. Saturday's game against AFC Clayton was the first in back to back games and ended up being a close affair, right till the final whistle; some excellent football played by both teams made it a joy to watch. Good passing forced a string of corners, in which one resulted in a low hard shot by Leech into the bottom left hand corner, giving us a 1-0 lead, and Leech's 20th goal of the season, he wheeled of in what looked like pre planned celebration, in which he ran off arms spread like an aeroplane. Our second goal came from good footwork by O'Neill and a lob by Leech towards Crone, Crone let the ball drop over his shoulder and a well timed volley beat the keeper from 10 yards out, an excellent worked goal and even better technique by Crone to finish the move and his 14th goal of the season. 2-0 and again Crone ran off arms spread out like an aeroplane. A good move by Clayton got them a goal back before half time, 2-1. The second half was back and forth, and another inspired performance by Handley in goal had the Clayton manager gasping, brave save after save continued and Handley was rightly so, named as man of the match. It was an excellent all round performance by all the players, good passing, good decision making when other players were in space created more chances for us. Well played everyone. Our last game of the season on Saturday 9th May 2009 against AFC Clayton. Final result 2-1 Goals : Leech, Crone MOM: Handley |
