Moston Brook 4th's can look back on the season with great satisfaction after finishing Runners up in the league and beaten Finalists in the Helliwell Shield. Manager Mike Crump had stated before the season started that he was looking for a top 4 finish and the players have not disappointed him. There were plenty of highs during the season none more so than Joe Ryan donning his new rainbow boots!! Several new players came into the club as well as the old stalwarts Mark Morrison and Chris Parker. Unfortunately for Chris his season was cut short when he tripped over a worm and grazed his knee leaving him on crutches for the last quarter of the season. Also falling victim to injury was Richard Boothroyde whose groin injury meant he also missed the second half of the season. Mind you it had been said that it was the only exercise his groin has had in years!!! Over the season Manager Mike Crump had a pretty settled squad apart from when Chris Melia and Andy Feeke went Social climbing in the 1st and 2nd teams!! there were plenty of funny moments as well. Dave Brookes throwing the ball in his own net. Mozzer missing at least 30 one on ones? Mike Crump going in net and doing his Sammy safe hands impression or not!!
Everyone who played for the 4th team contributed throughout the season and despite a late wobble they can all be proud of the effort and manner in which they competed throughout the season. Congratulations to you all and hears looking forward to another great season next year in a higher division.
Also don't forget the end of season seniors presentation. to be held at the Nimble Nook on Foxdenton Lane Friday 5th June at 8pm where there will be Player of the season awards and presentation of the runners up medals |
